Process

How the job runs

Same process on every job — you always know what happens next.

01

Test dry, plan dry

Humidity and seepage checked across seasons where possible; sump, dehumidifier or exterior grading fixes come first.

02

Frame & inspect

Steel or treated bottom plates, foam against foundation walls (never bare fiberglass), permits and inspections included.

03

Finish & furnish-ready

Ceilings that keep access to shutoffs, floors rated for below grade, lighting that makes it not feel like a basement. Typical: 6–10 weeks.

What it costs

Basement finishing in Massachusetts typically runs $50–$90 per square foot depending on bathrooms and egress work. A typical 600 sq ft basement lands between $35,000 and $60,000. Moisture mitigation, if needed, is quoted separately and first.

FAQ

Questions homeowners
ask us

My basement gets damp in spring — can it still be finished?

Yes, but only after the water is handled: grading, gutters, interior drain or sump. Finishing over a moisture problem is how you buy mold — we won't do it.

Does a finished basement count as living space in Massachusetts?

For a legal bedroom you need an egress window and minimum ceiling heights. We handle the egress cut and permit — it's also what lets you market the space at resale.

What ceiling height do I need?

MA code generally wants 6'8" for habitable basement rooms (with allowances under beams). We measure early — sometimes a different flooring assembly buys you the inches.
